China National Day And Golden Week Incoming
China’s National Day is approaching, marking the official anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) in 1949. The holiday is observed each year on October 1st and signals the beginning of Golden Week.
During Golden Week, which runs from Wednesday 1st October to Tuesday 7th October, Chinese citizens enjoy a seven-day public holiday. Celebrations take place nationwide, with fireworks, parades, and cultural festivities—particularly in the capital, Beijing.
This period is also one of the busiest travel times of the year, as millions of people journey across the country to reunite with family. As a result, factories, government institutions, and many businesses temporarily close, leading to a pause in export production.
For international trade and logistics, this creates a ripple effect. Carriers have already blanked an estimated 10–15% of sailings through the end of October, and shipping schedules are expected to fluctuate.
Please note: many of our partners will also be observing the holiday, with offices closed and only emergency contact available.
